The brief

The Exercise Specialist assesses cardiovascular and metabolic capacity, develops and implements exercise programs for patients, provides education, and may supervise staff. Responsibilities include planning and evaluating rehabilitation programs, acting as clinician/educator/researcher for community and hospital education, assisting with emergency measures, developing home exercise prescriptions, participating in quality improvement, assisting in patient assessment and care planning, organizing and supervising exercise sessions, collecting patient data, maintaining equipment and supplies, and pursuing professional licensure and ongoing education in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
